Ngorongoro Crater is not only one of the largest intact calderas in the world but also one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in all of Africa. Formed millions of years ago by a massive volcanic eruption, the crater measures about 19 kilometers in diameter and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its unique geological features and rich biodiversity.
This extraordinary ecosystem is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including all of the "Big Five": the majestic rhinoceros, powerful lions, elusive leopards, large herds of buffalo, and towering elephants. In addition to these iconic species, the crater supports a diverse population of other animals, such as zebras, hippos, wildebeests, hyenas, and various antelope species.
